Two kinds of houses
Much of La Habra's housing dates from the postwar decades, built on slab foundations with copper or galvanized supply lines and cast-iron or clay laterals. Newer developments and rebuilds are scattered through the city and look more like Amerige Heights inside: PEX or modern copper, newer water heaters and up-to-date fixtures.
Before you call anyone, figure out which kind of house you have. The age of the home and any repipe records will steer the conversation toward lateral inspections and supply line replacement on one side, or fittings, pressure and water heater maintenance on the other.
Older tract home or newer build
Older tract home
- Supply line age and material are the main questions
- Sewer lateral condition and roots
- Under-slab leaks
- Older shutoffs and water heater setups
Newer build
- PEX fittings and manifolds
- Tankless or high-efficiency heater maintenance
- Pressure regulators and expansion control
- Fixture cartridges and fill valves
Common issues either way
