What this log is for

Each time your grease interceptor or trap is serviced, write one line here and attach the service provider's receipt or record. The fill level column is the most important one: it tells you whether the unit was nearly empty, about right or overflowing when it was pumped, and that is how you set the next interval.

Keep the binder on site in a set place. If an inspector, landlord or plumber asks when the interceptor was last serviced, anyone on duty should be able to find the answer in a minute. Check with the city for any record-keeping or reporting requirements that apply to your business.

Common questions

What if our service provider does not record fill level?

Ask them to tell you at each visit and write it in yourself. If they cannot, consider whether the service fits your needs.

Is this log the official record?

It is your own record. The city may have its own forms or reporting rules, so check with the city and keep their required documents too.

Should under-sink traps go in the same log?

You can use a separate page for each unit so the fill levels are not mixed up.
