What the plumber needs from you
Leak location depends on access and quiet. The plumber may need to reach the water heater, the house main, every fixture and the floor along the suspected pipe route, and acoustic equipment works best when nothing else in the house is making noise.
Information matters just as much. Your meter test results, symptom notes and any history of past leaks can shorten the search.

Questions to have ready
- What is your CSLB license number? I will check it at cslb.ca.gov.
- Is leak location priced separately from repair?
- Will I get the findings in writing?
- Which repair options do you see, and why?
- Can I keep using the unaffected side of the plumbing?
Common questions
Do I need to be home?
Usually, yes. The plumber will need access to valves and fixtures and will want to explain findings.
Should I turn the water off before the visit?
Only if the leak is heavy. Otherwise leave it on so the plumber can test the system as it normally runs.
Will furniture need to move?
Clearing the suspected area makes tracing and listening easier. Ask when booking if anything specific is needed.
