Common questions
Is the CSLB lookup free?
The license lookup is on the CSLB website at cslb.ca.gov.
What if a contractor uses subcontractors?
Ask who they are and who is responsible for the work. Both arrangements can work if roles are clear.
Should online reviews decide it?
They are one input. The license, written scope and permit plan are things you can verify directly.
