The neighborhood

The Cypress Street Barrio grew up near the old rail and packing areas west of the Plaza, and many of its homes are small, early houses that have been expanded and updated over generations.

That history often shows in the plumbing. Additions bring newer pipe; older parts of the house may keep original galvanized supply and cast-iron drains; and the sewer lateral may be original clay. Each house has its own mix.
