Before you pay the balance
- Watch the final video. The new line should be filmed from the cleanout to the main connection, with the distance counter visible.
- Check each connection.Ask the operator to pause at every branch connection and both ends of the new pipe.
- Confirm inspection. If a permit was required, confirm the city inspection is complete before pits are closed and before you make the final payment.
- Walk the site.Look at backfill, concrete, sprinklers and landscaping against what the estimate promised.
- Get the documents.Collect the warranty in writing, the permit records and both camera videos.

Keeping the new line healthy
A new liner or fused pipe removes the joints and cracks that caused trouble, but what goes down the drain still matters. Wipes labeled flushable, grease, paper towels and hygiene products cause blockages in any pipe. Keeping them out is the simplest way to avoid ever seeing the inside of your new lateral on camera.
Records matter too. If you sell the house, buyers and inspectors often ask about the sewer line. A before video, an after video and a permit sign-off answer those questions quickly and show the line was renewed properly.
Questions to ask at handoff
- Where is the cleanout, and is it accessible?
- What should I avoid putting down the drains?
- What does the warranty require from me to stay valid?
- Who do I contact if a problem appears later?
Common questions
Should I have the new line inspected again later?
There is no fixed schedule. If drains slow down, a camera inspection is the quickest way to see what is happening.
Can roots damage a new lined pipe?
The liner covers the old joints roots used. Ask how the liner ends and connections are sealed, since those are the remaining transition points.
What if the final video shows a problem?
Raise it before final payment and ask, in writing, how and when it will be corrected.
