Your line, the public main and the parts in between
A sewer lateral runs from your house drains to the public sewer main, which usually lies under the street. Part of the lateral is on your lot, and part may cross the parkway or sidewalk area before reaching the main. Rules about who maintains and repairs each part vary from city to city.
This guide does not state the City of Fullerton's rules, fees or procedures. Check with the city directly for your address before assuming who is responsible for a problem near or beyond the property line, and before any work in the public right of way.

- Will you handle the permit if one is required?
- Have you checked whether this location is in the public right of way?
- What inspections will the work need?
- What is your CSLB license number? (Check it at cslb.ca.gov.)
