Before the plumber leaves
Making sense of the results
- IfOnly buildup or light roots, pipe otherwise soundThenCleaning and periodic checks may be all that is needed.
- IfOne defect, such as a single offset or cracked sectionThenA spot repair is often discussed.
- IfSeveral defects along the runThenLining or replacement options may be worth comparing.
- IfA collapse or breakThenRepair is usually needed before backups get worse.
Questions to ask while reviewing
- Can we rewind to the worst spot and look again?
- How deep is the pipe at that point?
- What happens if I wait six months?
- Would a second inspection after cleaning show more?
Common questions
Can I ask a different plumber to review the footage?
Yes. That is one of the main reasons to ask for the recording. A second plumber may want to run their own camera as well.
Why are distances so important?
They let a plumber locate the problem from above ground and estimate what a repair involves. Without them, footage is much less useful.
What if the camera could not get all the way through?
Note where it stopped and why. A blockage or break may need clearing before the rest of the line can be seen.
