What to ask, and why
How do I check a plumber's license?
Ask for the contractor's CSLB license number and look it up at cslb.ca.gov. The lookup shows whether the license is active and which classifications it covers.
How do I avoid buying a heater I don't need?
Ask what failed and how it was tested. Get the repair option and the replacement option in writing, and get a second opinion on any replacement when the tank isn't leaking.
What belongs in a written replacement estimate?
The heater's type, fuel and capacity, removal and disposal of the old one, water, gas or electrical and venting connections, seismic straps, the relief valve discharge line, any permit, and the total price.
Can I relight the pilot myself?
Only with no gas smell, and only by following the lighting instructions printed on the heater. Smell gas? Leave and call 911 or SoCalGas from outside. If the pilot keeps going out, stop and get it diagnosed.
Can a handyman replace a water heater?
The job touches water, gas or electrical, and venting. Check that whoever does it holds the right CSLB license, and ask whether they'll handle any permit the city requires.
Who answers if I contact this site?
This is a preview site for Orange Water Heater Repair. The phone number shown is a temporary placeholder, and the request form is visible but not yet connected, so a submission isn't sent anywhere yet. We'll publish licensing and service details here once confirmed; until then, check any plumber's CSLB license at cslb.ca.gov.
