Slab leak work runs in stages, and so does this checklist. It is meant to be printed and kept with your meter worksheet and symptom log. It does not recommend any company; it helps you check whichever licensed contractor you choose.

Stage 1: before anyone comes out

  • I have the contractor's CSLB license number.
  • I looked it up at cslb.ca.gov and it is active, in a classification that covers plumbing.
  • They confirmed my Fullerton address is in their service area.
  • I know whether employees or a subcontractor will do the work.
  • I know whether leak location is a separate visit and charge.
  • I have my meter worksheet, symptom log, photos and bills ready.

Stage 2: after leak location

  • I know which methods were used to find the leak.
  • The hot or cold side was confirmed by testing.
  • I have the leak location in writing, ideally with a sketch.
  • Other sources such as toilets and irrigation were ruled out.
  • I understand how confident the finding is.

Stage 3: before signing for the repair

  • The repair method is named: spot repair, reroute, lining or repipe.
  • I understand why that method was recommended for my house.
  • The pipe material is stated.
  • Concrete patching, flooring, drywall and paint are listed as included or excluded.
  • Permit responsibility is stated, if a permit is required.
  • I know how many days and hours we will be without water.
  • I know whether the price is an estimate or fixed, and what could change it.

Stage 4: before the final payment

  • The repaired line was pressure tested and I know the result.
  • My own meter test with everything off shows no movement.
  • Any required inspection has passed.
  • I have the final invoice describing what was done and where.
  • Openings are closed or I know who is closing them and when.

Common questions

Do I need all four stages for a small repair?

Stages 1 and 4 matter for every job. Stages 2 and 3 can be quick for a simple, clearly located repair.

What if the plumber will not provide written scope?

Written scope protects both sides. If it is refused, consider another licensed contractor.

Does this checklist apply to Fullerton Slab Leak Repair too?

Yes. Use it with us or anyone else. This is a preview site: the phone number shown is a temporary placeholder and the request form is not connected to a destination yet.
