- IfWater is near the electrical panel or outlets and still spreadingThenStay out of the area and get help from a qualified electrician or emergency services as needed.

After the first hour
Once the water is off and documented, the urgency drops. You have time to check a plumber's license at cslb.ca.gov, ask what detection includes, and talk to your insurer about drying. Pull back a corner of wet carpet if you can do so safely so air can reach the pad, and run fans or a dehumidifier in small affected areas.

Common questions
Should I try to dig or cut to find the leak?
No. Cutting a slab without locating the leak can make the repair larger. Stop the water and leave locating to a plumber.
Can I flush the toilet with the main closed?
Each toilet will flush once from the water in its tank. You can refill a tank by hand with a bucket if needed.
Do I need to turn off electricity?
Only if you can reach the panel from a dry area safely. If water is near the panel, stay away and get qualified help.
