This checklist is meant to be printed and used during calls and visits. It applies to any plumber you speak with, including us; this is a preview site, so our phone number is a temporary placeholder and the request form is not connected yet. It simply lists what a careful homeowner confirms before agreeing to water heater work.
Fill in one copy per contractor you speak with, and keep the copies together so you can compare them later.

Deciding
- Line up the quotes.Use the quote comparison worksheet to compare scope, not just the bottom line.
- Re-check the license.Look it up again on the day you decide, in case anything has changed.
- Confirm the permit plan.Know who pulls it and when an inspection, if needed, will happen.
- Get the final scope in writing.Any changes discussed on site should be added to the written agreement.
Common questions
- What if the license lookup shows a different name?
- Ask the contractor to explain before going further. The business you hire should match the license you checked.
- Do I need more than one quote?
- It is not required, but comparing two or three written scopes is the easiest way to spot what a quote leaves out.
- Does this site check contractors for me?
- No. Use cslb.ca.gov to check any contractor's license yourself, including ours once we publish it.
